Counseling Center

PHD’s Counseling Center, located at 1610 Colonial Parkway in Inverness, is the hub of PHD’s programs and services. Over 1,200 women each year visit the Center to receive counseling and on-going support services in the areas of pregnancy and parenting. PHD’s MOTIVATE Prevention Department is housed at the Counseling Center as well as PHD’s Baby & Maternity Closet and Administrative offices.

Most PHD volunteers work out of the Counseling Center and participate in a variety of areas including Intake, Case Management, Baby & Maternity Closet, Special Projects including fundraising events and within PHD’s MOTIVATE and Development/Administrative Departments.

Intake Coordination/Case Management

This position gives volunteers the opportunity to work on the front lines directly with clients. As a volunteer in this position you will assist with new client interviews and work with existing clients to help them manage the plan they have developed with PHD. Volunteers will make recommendations to clients for various PHD services and education programs as well as connect clients to other community resources including housing, food pantry, financial help and more. Anyone in this position will enjoy developing wonderful friendships with like-minded volunteers while seeing a direct impact on the clients you serve.

Childcare

PHD provides support to our clients through educational programs and support groups. In order to help clients receive the most out of these opportunities, PHD offers childcare to women who bring their children to the center. Counseling Center Greeter

Whether visiting PHD’s Counseling Center for the first time, as a returning client or as a guest visiting one of our staff members, we want each person to feel welcome. PHD’s Volunteer Greeter position is extremely important since this is the first impression they will receive. If you enjoy helping others and offering wonderful customer service, this position is perfect for you.

Marketing, Fundraising and Development

PHD’s Development department is always on the lookout for volunteers to assist with administrative tasks associated with raising funds and awareness for PHD programs and services. Development work could include grant writing and research, press release writing and dissemination and other marketing and public relations tasks.

Speakers Bureau

PHD’s Speakers Bureau is the perfect outlet for people who love to connect with others and share a great story. Our Speakers Bureau is made up of select staff members as well as dedicated volunteers interested in furthering PHD’s mission. Training will be provided.

PHD currently offers internship opportunities for students participating in counseling or social work programs as well as non-profit management and/or programs.
