How do I know if I’m eligible for services at PHD?

Individuals who are pregnant, expecting a child, or are parenting a child under the age of three are eligible for services at PHD. There is no time limit for those seeking counseling due to the grief and loss of a pregnancy or infant and no matter when the loss occurred. We see mothers, fathers, grandparents, and any other individuals who may be caregivers.

Is there a cost for services?

Although PHD does not bill for insurance, our fees are affordable and we never turn anyone seeking services away due to an inability to pay. Fees for Case Management services are $10/month. This may be reduced if there is a demonstrated financial need and our staff reevaluates these clients on a three months basis. Fees for Professional Counseling services are determined by a sliding scale based on annual income and the number of dependents the client has.

What is professional counseling?

Professional Counseling services address a variety of issues, such as depression, anxiety, difficulties with parenting, grief and loss of a pregnancy or infant, infertility, transitioning to parenthood, etc. Our counseling services are offered in English and Spanish by professionals who have attained master’s degrees. Our counselors work to identify and treat symptoms, create goals towards wellness, and offer guidance and support. Typically appointments are scheduled once per week.

What is case management?

Case Management services are monthly interactions with one of our trained volunteer Case Managers, which includes an assessment of current situation, community referrals, educational topics, and emotional support. Case Management services are offered in English and Spanish. A completed voucher (2 PHD stamps, 1 Community stamp) is necessary for a baby closet visit. Appointments are scheduled once per month.

What services are free?

All layette educational classes, pregnancy tests, and A.R.T.S. classes are free.

Can I just come to the Baby Closet?

In order to receive Baby Closet items, a person must be a client of PHD and enrolled in either Case Management or Counseling services. A completed PHD voucher, which is provided through either service, is also required for a visit. This includes two PHD stamps and one community stamp to encourage personal growth and development through a variety of support services.

PHD has no geographical boundaries for clients to adhere to. We will serve any client that meets our service eligibility (see above) and can get to our agency.

Does PHD provide transportation?
